Angelina Vassallo

The smell of memory

Angela Amendola was the wife and life partner of Angelo Vassallo, the mayor of Pollica (Salerno), a fisherman and the vice-president of Città Slow International, who was killed on the 5th September 2010 by the organized crime. Her words bring the Mediterranean diet back to the places, the bodies, the stories and the memories from where this life data-style, which Unesco declared human heritage, originated. This virtuous intertwining between human and nature made Cilento a place of the soul, an elective homeland for the ones who dream a best country. Angelo gave his life over for this dream. Angela, her son Antonio and her daughter Giuseppina keep  his memory alive. Their wine shop and their restaurant “Il Rosso e Il Mare” in Acciaroli are the places where the food community becomes reality.
