Stefano Zamagni
An influential opinion about the Granaries of Memory
Stefano Zamagni, born in 1943, is Professor of Economics at University of Bologna and is considered one of the leading Italian economists. In this interview he deals with the transformations that Western societies are experiencing during the passage from a Fordist and to a post-Fordist model of organization. Zamagni suggests Fordist society is characterized by uniformity, while the post-Fordist society is strongly characterized by diversity, intended in different forms from biodiversity to the ethical and cultural plurality.
Zamagni emphatises the importance of a recovery of traditions and the study of history. In this perspective, the project "Granaries of Memory", developed by the University of Gastronomic Sciences, is particularly valuable.
The analysis the economist concludes with a reflection on the BES, "benessere equo sostenibile" [equitable and sustainable well-being], that has become one of the parametres emplyed by by ISTAT, the National Institute of Statistics, for its research since 2012.
