
Michelino Giordano
Herder and producer of Nostrale d'Alpe cheese in Palanfrè di Vernante (CN)
Michelino Giordano was born in 1972 in a family of herders. His parents was from Palanfrè, a neighbourhood of Vernate. In the 1960s they left the mountain and moved to the plain.
He describe the difficult work of a herder and his everyday practices. He highlight the problems concerning the allotment of public grazes, and the festivals of St. Chiaffredo in Saluzzo, and the one in Vermenagna valley.
This interview was collected for a research promoted by the Cuneo Province Council - Department of Agriculture, parks and forest and conducted by the University of Gastronomic Sciences in order to institute the archive Cuneo province agriculture between tradition and innovation.
