Libereso Guglielmi was born on April 20, 1925. He was interviewed in 2013.
He is known as the "gardener of Calvino". He was born in Bordighera, in a family of Esperantists and vegetarians. Libereso was noted by Mario Calvino, the father of the popular writer Italo Calvino. Mario invited the young to work in a botanic experimental station that he ran in Sanremo.
Libereso became a professional researcher and the head gardener at the University of London for twelve years.
Libereso is a poet of flowers, trees, and fruits; a man who has lived and lives to remind us that nature is our mother and we should have a great respect and protect it.
