The family of Wanda had been evacuated on the hill around the city and from there she saw down the old Bridge of San Francesco and the Germans hanged in retaliation pesciatini, young and old, the trees along the Pescia. Four of them were young people who had met in the house where he was displaced. Some people asked the Bishop to intercede, but already he had managed to save the city once and the Germans did not hear it.
The end of the war was greeted with great enthusiasm, to a regained freedom, for the hope of a better future.
