Novara, the colour of rice
Interviewed in 2011, Alice Plata was born in 1986 in Milan and lives in Novara. She studied Communication Sciences at the University of Eastern Piedmont in Vercelli.
During the interview, she remembers all the places of Novara that she loves: Piazza Puccini and the children's park; Piazza Sacro Cuore and Piazza delle Erbe.
She describes the urban transformations that some districts of Novara have undergone as a result of the decline of the city factories.
Alice describes Novara as a passageway. For this reason, it is difficult todefine what is 'novaresità'.
The interviewee recalls the landscape of rice paddies that she ran as a child, fishing frogs (which were eaten fried or in soup), the plates of festive occasions and the Feast of San Gaudenzio, the candlestick of roses and the blessing of handkerchiefs.
