
Giuseppe Scaglione
Military campaign in North Africa
Giuseppe "Pinot" Scaglione (1916-2010) tells episode of his youth in Santo Stefano, and his work as a peasant with his father Belbo. In 1940, he joined the army and participated as a soldier in the military campaign in North Africa. In 1943 he is captured by the American force and imprisoned in Detroit where he remained until 1945. He went back to Italy in September 1945. He remembers his comrade-in-arms, general Rommel and Graziani.
