Renato Zaccarelli, interviewed in 2009, talks about his experience as a professional footballer. After Giorgio Ferrini and Paul Pulici, Renato Zaccarelli is the third most present player of Turin in Serie A. His career began in the ranks of Junior Ancona, a historic team of Vallemiano. 15 years old, he played in the junior team of Turin. He played as a young professional player in Serie B with Catania and Novara, until his debut in Serie A with Verona football club. He returned to Turin football team in the summer of 1974, and has played with this team there on. Zaccarelli was a midfielder until late in his career when he moved back in defense. In this role, he lived a second life to such an extent that in 1986, 35 years old, he was awarded the "Golden Guerin" prize as the best player of the season 1985-86. With Turin football team he won only one Scudetto in 1976, but he played in the national team for five years (with 25 appearances and two goals) participating to the World Cup in Argentina in 1978, a competition in which Italy came fourth.
