The history of a midwife told by her daughter
Gabriella Serrentino, born in Pavone Canavese in 1944, tells the work history of her mother, “Madamin”, the last midwife of Volvera. She worked in Germagnano and in Vinovo before moving to Volvera in 1952. She helped the women of the town to give birth in their houses; a common practice until the late 1970s and the opening of the public family advice bureau. Gabriella speaks also of her experience as a worker at Lancia car industry and the folk festivals of Volvera and the neighbouring villages.
