Giampiero Guazzellino

La sua storia di vita

Giampiero Gauzzellino was born in 1948 in Asti and he has been interviewed for the Granaries of Memory in 2013, in the retirement home of his hometown.

Mr Gauzzellino narrates about his family and his childhood, spent with her sister at their grandmother’s house, because their parents, a lathe turner and an employee in a food factory, used to work from monday to saturday.

Before finishing middle school, Giampiero started to work as a plumber for a company and kept on working for it until he retired: during the interview he narrates his first day as a waged apprentice and describes the constantly evolving houses during the economic upturn.

Than he talks about his childhood hobbies: seeking mushrooms with his father in Piedmont’s chestnuts woods, the passion for drama and opera passed down by his grandparents and the songs by Adriano Celentano and Mina.

Now Mr Giampiero lives in the retirement home of Asti, where he found serenity after a hard time and also love: in 2011, at the age of 63, he got married to Maria, who lives in the rest home too, proving that it is never too late to find love.
