Alessio Valerio

St. Besse and the experience of a tinman

 Alessio Valerio is a member of a family from Soana Valley that left the valley seven generations and two hundred years ago. However they continued to speak in Franco-Provençal and kept the traditions of the valley alive. They were tinmen, a typical profession of the valley. The family lives in Bergamo where he owned a shop specialized in copper utensils. 
He remembers his first visit to St. Besse, in 1944 and explains the origins and characteristics of the cult in the valley. He moreover offers details of the history of his valley, their profession and travels. 
The interview is spoken in Franco-Provençal. It was made possible thanks to the help of  Ornella De Paoli, and  Antonio Peretti.
