The feast of Bread in Belvedere Langhe
The blessing of "Micun" bred
Started in 1612, the feast of bread is celebrated in Belvedere Langhe every year, the second sunday after Easter. The Friday before the feast the ceremonial bread, called Micun, are made. They are blessed on Sunday, in the parish church of St. Sebastian, after a procession. Thus, it is explained why the feast is known in the village as the "men's feast".
The recipe of the micun is secret, known only to the dean of the brotherhood. The bread was considered endowed with magical, healing power. A piece of it was kept during all the year long and used, and its crumbles used as powerful medicine for old people and youngsters when they fell ill.
