Memories and food in an America on the move
Duahne Yolthers, born in 1933, was interviewed for the Granaries of Memory in 2011.
In the interview Duahne tells of the role of food in his family, from the memory of his parents's house to the ones' of his family.
The words of Duanhe describe an America on the move: a reality somehow deeply rural that has turned into the present urban space in less than fifty years. The memories of the daily life at the turn of the 1950s, a few years after the end of World War II and the beginning of the Korean War, emphasize the transition from a simple cousine, strongly linked to the territory, with a foodscape much richer, defined by a variety of products from around the world and the many restaurants that mark the contemporary urban landscape.
