
Nello Streri, a middle-class man in the Resistence

Interviewed in 2011,Nello Streri, born in 1923 in Cuneo, recalls his becoming an adulthood as the last member of a wealthy middle class family. He join the antifascism after the example of his family acquaintances, among which Duccio Galimberti stands out .
He recalls the days after July 25, 1943; his arrest on September 8, 1943; his decision to join the "justice and freedom" partian brigates. He tells about his days as a partisan fighting in the Po plain, the Grana and Stura valleys, and also in the highlands of Langa.
He also tells the names of those who fought with, describing some army actions,the relationship betwneen the civilian population and the clergy; his role in the brigates; the liberation of Turin, its risks and hopes.
