A baker in Altamura

 Luca Di Gesù, born in 1934, was interviewed at Terra Madre 2012.
The "pane di Altamura" is a typical product strongly linked with the traditions of the Apulian region. It was mostly kneaded at home then bake in a bakery.
The Digesu family have been bakers for six generations. Di Gesù Luca started the job when he was six years old, helping his parent in the shop. There he have witnessed the gestures and speech of a culture that is being lost: the culture of the sacredness of bread. 
In the interview he tells about this culture, the experience of childhood as "shoeshine boys", a meeting with the Calabrian mafia, and some religious festivals of Altamura.
