 Luigi Cappa describes September 8, when he found himself in France, his fight and his journey home on foot, which took a week. He subsequently helped create the "Banda Lenti" partisan formation in Camagna Monferrato with which he contributed to the liberation of  Alessandria. Straight after the war he was appointed public safety commissioner.
