Javier García

Volontario dell'associazione di scambio agroalimentare "Mano a Mano"

Javier García is a young biologist from Mérida, Venezuela, and he has been interviewed during Terra Madre 2012.

Javier works as a volunteer for and association, called “Mano a mano”, which gather farmers from small organic entities. The association organizes twice a month a public market, which has created, little by little, a network of growers, volunteers, chefs and responsible consumers. The farmers involved in this project are constantly trying to promote typical products of Venezuela, such as different species of local potatoes, but also other vegetables and fruits.
The market, organized by 40 small producers, has no intermediaries and this allows  to keep the prices low, helping both the farmers and the consumers.
