San Firmino and Po River

  Interviewed in 2007, Don Carlo Peano has been for thirty years parish preast of St Firmino church in Revello. He tells the story of this village and its relationship with Po river.
San Firmino, the saint protector of health and children, was also known by the ancient Romans. 
Don Carlo tells how the rogation took place: "Prayers made ??early in the morning to help farmers. They had always had as destination a special chapel". With them, the community asked Lord for 'rain during droughts, or to avoid spring frosts".
From the interview, several other traits of local traditional knowledge emerge.
During Good Saturday. The priest blessed the water used for baptisms and blessings during the coming year. Once blessed, the water was kept into a bowl where people could dip their hands and then wet eyes for protection. 
It was also a custom, to bless silkworms on Easter Monday.
The interview ends with the reading of some invocations that are made during the Rogation.
