Stefano remembers when he was just a boy and played in his grandfather's restaurant in Lucca, closed to two brothels. The closing of these activities, due to the Merlini Law, led to a drastic decrease of the customers in the restaurant, which finally closed down. 

Stefano's passion for cooking has always been strong thanks to his parents who always bought the best ingridients for cooking their daily meals. 

Everyday, "Il Mecenate" offers a selection of bread served with a wide selection of cheeses and salami. Folling the best Tuscan tradition, the restaurant offers a excellent meat, homemade pasta and cakes together with a selection of DOC Italian wines. The vegetables used by "il Mecenate" are taken from the gardens of Gattaiola, while the fish comes from the Tuscany sea.
