The Quilombolas of Mandira

Cananéia oysters

The Quilombolas community of Mandira is mostly involved in the production of Cananéia oysters (Crassostrea brasiliana), crabs, and seafood. They were visited by the students of the University of Gastronomic Sciences in 2011.
The Quilombolas has created the ‘Cooperostra’ coop, which is located in Cananéia. This enterprises markets the products made by the ccomunity.
The vide shows the cycle of production of the oysters, and the politics connected with this food.
