Il racconto è pacato e riflette il carattere di Elio: ci si adattava a tutto! Inizialmente i locali adibiti alla mensa erano poco curati, tanto che in molti preferivano andare a mangiare fuori seduti sui cassoni di legno, anche in inverno, pur di avere aria pulita e di staccare per la mezz'ora del pasto.
Elio racconta di come il cibo diventa occasione per scoprire nuovi sapori, le culture di colleghi che venivano da lontano.

The archive collects stories of workers who lived in the years of Piedmont’s transaction of the productive system, which started in the small “boite” in the villages and developed in large factories. The focus of the stories is the meal time, transported and consumed in the “barachin”, small metallic mess tins that were completely erased first by the introduction of canteens and then by the economical crisis in the ‘90.
